Happy New Year to all Finningley Gardeners.
Take advantage of green bin collection next week to tidy up
borders, trim trees & shape shrubs. Prune roses to a healthy outward facing
bud.
Don`t forget to put out food & water for birds. Remember
they are gardener`s friends- keeping slugs, snails & greenfly at bay.
Take time to look through seed catalogues, try a new colour
scheme or a new variety of an old favourite.
Bulbs are already making an appearance through the soil.
Remember to let indoor bulbs die down, don`t discard, plant outside in a spare
corner to rest until flowering again next year.
Hodsock Snowdrop Festival starts on January 31st &
Brodsworth Hall stage their first in February with a promise of "hundreds &
thousands of snowdrops" & they will be asking visitors for help to plant
another 50,000 bulbs.
