Gardening in October First of all enjoy the last of Summer bedding plants before the inevitable night frosts. Take note of successes for next year. Don`t be in a rush to discard plants which are giving good Autumn colours

![]() Bulbs for indoor flowering should be planted now. Tidy the greenhouse, check thermostats & heaters. Tidy borders, tie back climbers and lift half-hardy plants you want to keep. Cut Chinese Lanterns (Physalis) remove leaves & hang upside down to dry for Harvest Festival displays or indoor decoration. ![]() Phlox have flowered twice. Time to cut them down now.
